Lead by DJ Hiphoppapotamus, Hippo Sound System are a hybrid live/electronic group that blend global music with sound system culture! Exploring exciting new global bass fusions is what drives this creative machine, as they mix Afro-Latin rhythms with their favourite
elements of dance music such as Jungle, Hip Hop, Breaks, House and Dub!

They just released their long-awaited debut album Origins in April 2023! Drenched in organic atmospheres, and paired with thoughtful lyrics that speak of the way we humans treat our planet, this multi-genre concept album is an homage to the natural environment. Along with their singles and remixes since 2018, the album has received wide-spread praise, and they have now gained much traction with Spotify curator playlist features, and airtime on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and Radio 6 from Jeremiah Asiamiah, Craig Charles and Don Letts! The core group consists of the hippo on electronics, MC Feline with his melodic ow and conscious lyrics, showstopper Stacey ‘Silvertongue’ Doherty on Saxophone, and rhythm gurus Munki & Mook on
percussion. But their collective family extends much further to collaborators such as K.O.G, S.I.M.O (Electric Jalaba), Franz Von and Aziza Jaye who often feature as guest vocalists, each bringing their unique vocal style.

They’ve now played major stages at many of the UK’s best festivals including Glastonbury (Glade stage), Boomtown (Engine House), Shambala (Chai Wallahs), Green Man, and Secret Garden Party. And after the release of their album, another jam-packed Summer awaits
them in 2023 !
