The Ska Vengers (IN)

India’s number 1 ska band, their sound is an organic melange of Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Dub, Jazz and Punk with some Cuban and other Latin influences thrown in. Known for introducing socially relevant themes in their songs, they released an animated video titled ‘Modi, A Message to You’ in 2014 at the same time that India voted the ruling party BJP into power and their video ‘Badda’ talks about censorship and manipulation of the Indian news media. Apart from this, The Ska Vengers also performed for 2,000 inmates inside South Asia’s largest jail, Tihar in 2012. Their most recent single/video ‘Frank Brazil’ is the story of Indian freedom fighter Udham Singh’s execution following his assassination in London of British Lieutenant Governor of Punjab Michael O’Dwyer who was held responsible for the Jallianwallah Bagh massacre.

After a promising UK debut in 2016, they took the british festival scene by storm in the summer 2017 with an extremely successful tour. Gracing the main stage at Wilderness, and entertaining heaving crowds at Glastonbury, Bestival, Boomtown, Womad and many others, they also attracted raving reviews and incredible press coverage spanning various BBC channels, an article in The Guardian and even made it onto the national news on Channel 4!

Needless to say we expect big things for them in 2018!
