Nick Hollywood is a musician, designer, DJ, radio presenter and head honcho at Freshly Squeezed Music.
Memorably described as a “suave impresario” by The Independent and “the Godfather of Electro Swing” by The Daily Telegraph, Nick founded the independent label and music publishing company in 2005.
Among many notable successes, the label was the first to launch Electro Swing in the UK with the award-winning White Mink : Black Cotton compilation series. The CD launch party gave birth to the worlds first Electro Swing club in London in 2009 while the compilation itself went on to become a multiple silver-disc’d series awarded the accolade of “electro-swing’s first landmark moment” by Mixmag in 2010.
An off-shoot live events production company (White Mink Productions) runs regular large-scale events in London and Brighton with touring shows across Europe. They have programmed stages for many of the UK’s biggest Festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Boomtown, The Secret Garden Party, Latitude, Wilderness and more.
White Mink also promoted the first ever UK tour by Caravan Palace and the British debut by Parov Stelar at both Koko in 2012 and Shepherds Bush Empire in 2013 all of which Sold Out. Indeed every White Mink event from 2011 – 2015 in Brighton has also been sold out!
In late 2011 Freshly Squeezed expanded further becoming a weekly 2 hour radio show hosted by Nick Hollywood on Brighton’s Juice 107.2FM and featuring an eclectic mix of vintage and vintage-remixed sound. The show has subsequently been syndicated to Kiss FM in Australia, and to FM stations in Germany, Turkey and across North America.
Freshly Squeezed celebrates 10 years this year!
In 2015 Nick launched a new joint venture with Island Records (Part of Universal) called Vintage Remix of which he is MD. The label will have responsibility for remixing the back catalogue of this world-famous label.
